New Players

We are delighted to welcome you to Tiverton RFC Juniors! Rugby for boys and girls aged 7 to 18 — every age group, every ability, new players always welcome.

Existing players please click here →

Joining is a two-step process. Step 1 — sign up to the club on Spond, the app we use for teams, payments and communication. Step 2 — register your player with the RFU on their GMS website. Your player cannot train or play matches until both are done.
Step 1 — Sign up on Spond

The form is completed by the parent or guardian of the player, and creates a parent/guardian account on Spond — not a player account. Complete the form once for each player you are registering.

Pick the form for your player's team:

Juniors · U7–U16

Boys and girls, Under 7s to Under 16s. New players are welcome to two taster sessions before fees are due.

Girls Team · Years 8–11

For girls in school Years 8 up to and including Year 11. New players are welcome to four taster sessions before fees are due.

Girls sign-up
Colts

Our oldest age group. Not sure whether your player is Juniors or Colts? Ask any coach or your Parent Rep.

The Spond app

After completing the form, download the Spond app to your smartphone — search "Spond" on the App Store or Google Play. As all our players are under 18, their accounts are managed by a parent or guardian through the app: you confirm availability, pay fees and receive club communication there.

We request that only parents and guardians use the Spond app — not players.
Fees
RFU membership — paid on GMS

£15 per season for youth players (£40 for Colts), paid via the RFU's GMS website as part of Step 2. Make sure you select Tiverton RFC as your club.

Training fee — paid via Spond

£64 per season. The club sends you a Payment Request through the Spond app — it appears in the Payments tab. We usually send these out in September each season. For players joining through the season, we send the Payment Request after they have completed two training sessions. You can pay in one go or in four instalments; choose what suits you best.

Match fee — paid via Spond

£4 per match for the 2026/27 season. A Spond notification is sent to you on each match day to make the payment.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and are unable to pay the fees, please message Sam Kirkwood, the Spond Admin, via 07967 22 00 67 — the club will be happy to support you. Such conversations remain confidential.

Step 2 — Register with the RFU

Registering with any rugby club at any age also requires you to register your player with the RFU, via their GMS website. You pay the RFU membership fee there and select Tiverton RFC as your club. Your player's RFU ID comes from GMS — you will need it to complete their club registration.

Our step-by-step GMS guide

The guide walks you through the whole thing with screenshots — creating the account, adding your player, paying the fee and completing the consents.

What happens next

We process every application, and whilst we cannot guarantee an application will be approved, we will do our level best to accommodate all players. Once accepted, you pay the training fee via Spond, and your first point of contact becomes the Head Coach and Parent Rep of your age group — general communication is via Spond and your coach's chosen method, such as WhatsApp.

Rugby and concussion. Rugby is a fantastic sport, but accidents can happen — and concussion symptoms often appear at home, long after the game. The RFU's HeadCase online course is a quick, free guide that Tiverton RFC recommends all parents and guardians complete.

Minis · U7, U8, U9 & U10

Sundays, 10:00–11:00am. Our youngest players learn the game through tag rugby and small-sided fun — no experience needed. These age groups train on Sundays, with matches every other weekend.

Juniors · U11 upwards

Wednesdays, 6:30–7:30pm (U16s 6:30–8:00pm). Age groups train under RFU-qualified coaches, building skills through the age-grade game.

Match Days

Sunday mornings. Fixtures and festivals against clubs across Devon, home and away. Parents and supporters welcome.
